Subramanian Swamy asked Center to postpone JEE, NEET

BJP MP Subramanian Swamy said on Friday that he had asked Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank to postpone the NEET and JEE examinations in view of the Kovid-19 epidemic.

Swamy also said that he planned to write an "urgent" letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue.

“I have only suggested to the Education Minister that NEET and other examinations should be conducted after Diwali. The SC order is not once on the second day since the honorable court left the date to the government. I am sending an urgent letter to the PM right now, ”Swamy said in a tweet.

In another tweet, addressed to those who are opposed to conducting the examination in the wake of the epidemic, Swamy said the Education Minister would hold an emergency meeting on the issue.

“I have already tweeted and also told the Education Minister that NEET exam should be held after Diwali. The minister is holding an emergency meeting. lets see. After the SC delivered its verdict, I was asked by all of you to intervene at a very late stage.

While official word on the issue was awaited from the Ministry of Education, a person aware of the development said that there was no decision to postpone the exam.

The Union Ministry of Education feels that it would be almost impossible to proceed for the academic year 2020-21 without examination. The ministry and the NTA have set their expectations in the detailed social distancing norms, which will be tested after being tested.

The NTA on its part is now focusing on a detailed protocol to ensure that the tests are carried out in the most secure manner.

“There will be a complete social distinction and security protocol. The place where the test is carried out will be disinfected. Masks, sanitiser and gloves will be allowed. There will be substantial social distinction. The temperature will be checked and those reporting any symptoms will be immediately isolated. All the systems will be designed to ensure that there is sufficient physical disturbance, ”a government official said, adding that all norms of the Ministry of Health would be followed.

Earlier, on August 17, the Supreme Court dismissed Kovid's plea to postpone two examinations on the ground.

A three-judge bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra said that the careers of students cannot be jeopardized by the Kovid and the court interfering with the National Testing Agency (NTA) decision to conduct the examinations in September.

“Life has to move forward even in the time of Kovid. Kovid may continue but postponement of examination is a loss for the country. Are you (petitioner) ready to waste the whole year? Justice Mishra asked the petitioners' counsel Alakh Alok Shrivastava. JEE is to be held from 1 September to 6 September and NEET is held on 13 September.
